recipient of the Virginia Space Grant Consortium Undergraduate Scholarship.
- Ellie Radue's recent paper in the Journal of Optics ``Substrate-induced microstructure effects on the dynamics of the photo-induced metal–insulator transition in VO2 thin films'' has been selected as a paper of the week (1/27)!

2010
- Kevin Cox received a Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) Undergraduate Research Scholarship
for the 2010-2011 academic year.
- Nate Phillips won the Northrop Grumman Corporation Award for Excellence in
Scholarship in the Natural and Computational Sciences
at the 9th Annual Graduate Symposium held at the College of William and Mary on March 26 and 27, 2010.
His paper "Quantum memory under conditions of electromagnetically induced transparency and four-wave mixing in a hot atomic gas" has been also featured in
the W&M news story.
- Francesca Fornisini received the Harrison Award for excellence in Physics - the highest recognition for a
graduating Senior
in the Physics Department. She also was awarded highly competitive
NSF graduate fellowship.
