To access WebAssign for the first time, you will need to pay an access fee, which you can do via a credit card on the WebAssign site. The fee is $32.95 for this term, or $50.90 for multiterm. If you signed up in Physics 107 with the multiterm option, there will be no fee this term. You will be able to access WebAssign for free until Wed Feb. 3rd. When you first go to WebAssign you will need to enter a "class key"; our class key is "wm 8414 2779". It would be convenient if you select your W&M username as your WebAssign username (eg. mine is dsarms); if you have already selected a different username, that's OK.
Letter grades will be assigned as follows:
A 93-100% A- 90-93 B+ 87-90 B 83-87 B- 80-83 C+ 77-80 C 73-77 C- 70-73 D+ 67-70 D 63-67 D- 60-63 F < 60The grades will be calculated based on either
Homework - 20% Homework - 20% Quizzes - 10% or Quizzes - 10% Tests - 40% Final Exam - 70% Final Exam - 30%For each student, the grade will be calculated using both equations, and the result with the larger numerical grade will be the one used to determine the letter grade. This procedure means that students who may have had difficulty with one or more of the in-class tests have the chance to make up for it with a good performance on the final exam; after all - what is relevant is how much physics you have learned at the end of the course!
