William and Mary Autumn Workshop

``New Ideas Beyond the Standard Model''

October 8-October 10, 2005

Introduction

The Physics Department at the College of William and Mary will host a workshop on New Ideas Beyond the Standard Model. The topic includes new ideas in electroweak symmetry breaking, extra dimensions, strings and cosmology. The workshop has been scheduled to include the Columbus Day holiday so as to minimize scheduling constraints of participants. Autumn is also a wonderful time to visit the Williamsburg, Virginia area, and there are many activities available locally for families.

We plan to have four or five talks daily, with plenty of time for informal discussion and collaboration. To encourage this informality, attendance will be limited to 40 participants.

Housing

There are many hotels in the Williamsburg area. The Days Inn Colonial Williamsburg - Downtown Area is a fifteen minute walk from the university, and has a conference rate available of $52.50/night if you book before September 25. You should mention the workshop when making your reservation at (757)229-5060.

Other options include the Williamsburg Hospitality House: A conference rate of $116/night is available before September 8, subject to availability. You should mention the workshop when making your reservation at (757)229-4020.

Registration

The registration fee will be $100 and will include coffee breaks, lunches, a workshop dinner, and miscellanea. The deadline for registration and payment of the $100 registration fee is September 26, 2005.
