The first day will be devoted to plenary review talks, followed by three days of parallel sessions and a few remaining plenary talks and all summary talks the final day. The web page of the Workshop (including a preliminary outline of the agenda) can be found under http://conferences.jlab.org/DIS2011/. The aim of these workshops is to review the progress in the field of DIS and Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and to lay the groundwork for future experiments. Most recent results from CERN, HERA, JLab, BNL/RHIC, and FNAL as well as the relevant theoretical developments will be covered. DIS2011 is expected to bring together about 300 experimentalists and theorists. DIS2011 is now open for registration and we encourage those of you who are planning to attend to register as soon as possible. The deadline for the advance registration and payment is March 11th, 2011. Reduced registration fees are available for students. The web pages will be regularly updated as more information becomes available. DIS2011 is now also open for requesting talks at the parallel sessions. Please contact via e-mail the convenors of the appropriate working group: Structure functions and parton densities Small-x, diffraction and vector mesons Electroweak physics and beyond the standard model QCD and hadronic final states Heavy flavours Spin physics Future of DIS (Names and e-mail addresses of many of the convenors are on the Workshop web pages. These pages will be updated soon to add the last few names). We encourage you to share the content of this message with your colleagues, and hope to see you in Newport News. Please also consider providing funding to sponsor this event. Thank you! Beth A. Cunningham Member, US Leadership Team Executive Officer Designate, American Association of Physics Teachers United States delegation to the 4th IUPAP International Conference on Women in Physics 5-8 April 2011 The US team leaders invite you to apply to become a member of the US delegation to the 4th IUPAP International Conference on Women in Physics in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The conference will feature discussion of progress and challenges in increasing the numbers and advancement of women in physics around the world; highlight exciting physics frontiers; and feature successful strategies for attracting girls to physics, helping young women launch physics careers, and promoting more women into leadership. Numerous opportunities are planned for networking, professional development, exploring international collaborations, and sharing your research interests and results in a poster session. More information about the conference may be found at http://www.acitravel.co.za/event/index.php?eventID=20 . The US Team Leaders are responsible for assembling a diverse delegation of women and men physicists and others, who will represent our country superbly and commit to apply and share their experiences at the conference to improve the situation for women in physics in the United States, when they return. We seek broad representation from students, post-doctoral fellows, teachers, senior leaders, from the full range of physics and related specialties, employment sectors, geography, and race/ethnicity. The team leaders are seeking funding to allow travel costs of selected delegation members. These will receive a travel grant sufficient to cover most, but not necessarily all, of the travel costs. Applications must be submitted to http://www.uswip.org no later than midnight, EST (Eastern Standard Time), January 7, 2011. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. Other foreign nationals interested in participating should contact the delegation leader(s) for their country (see the conference website, first website above). US Team Leaders: Luz J. Mart?nez-Miranda (ljmm at umd.edu); Apriel Hodari; Meg Urry (meg.urry at yale.edu); Beth Cunningham (bcunningham at aapt.org ). The conference organizers need to raise $800,000 to bring teams from up to seventy countries. Individuals and organizations interested in sponsoring the conference by making a tax-deductible donation to support travel of participants from developing countries should contact Beverly Hartline (bhartline at udc.edu).
