6. Hall, Chap. 5, pg. 87, Exercise 16.

7. Get together a group of 4 of your classmates. As a team, check out the sound level meter. You may bring it home, to orchestra rehearsal, etc. You may work as a team, or each in turn to measure the sound levels in various environments. As a team, you should turn in a short report for 20 measurements in different locations. This should include measured decibel levels (possibly a range of values) and a short paragraph describing the environment (location and conditions) in which the measurements were made. Try to get a feeling for the different values (i.e. characterize the sounds as loud or soft when you make the measurements). Return the meter at the next class period. Submit this exercise when you have it complete; it should be separate from the other assignments since each group will have the meter at a different time. Try to find as many diverse environments as possible.
