"Physics for Scientists and Engineers" 4th edition volume 1 by Douglas C. Giancoli (ISBN 0-13-227358-6). We will cover Chapters 1-16 inclusive.
Exams
There will be two closed-book exams during the course (midterm and final).
The final exam will be on Friday June 27, 10 - 12 am.
Grading
You must pass (60% minimum) the laboratory section of the course to pass the entire course. Anyone not passing the lab will be given an "F".

Homework
- A set of problems is due at 11:59 pm on
- Solutions will be available on the WWW the morning after the due date.
- The homework answers will be entered via the WWW using WebAssign (www.webassign.net). This software will provide instant feedback on which problems were answered correctly (and which were not). You will be allowed multiple attempts to upload answers (up to a maximum of 5 attempts per problem), and your grade will be based on the last submission.
- Your username for WebAssign will be your W&M username (eg. mine is eemikh) or part of your W&M email which goes in front of @wm.edu; for "Institution" you should enter "wm", and your initial password will be your student ID number. I have set up WebAssign accounts for everyone who was enrolled as/of Friday May 25th; if you added in after this, send me an Email and I will add you to WebAssign. To access WebAssign, you will need to pay a registration fee, which can be paid online using a credit card. You will have a couple of weeks before you have to pay the access fee.
